How Kivu protects the corridor

Compliance, screening, and the handling of money in transit · Last updated: August 26, 2026

A remittance corridor is worth protecting because of what moves through it. The money in it is rent, school fees, a hospital bill, a month of groceries. This page states what Kivu does to keep that corridor safe and lawful.

1. Kivu is a registered Money Services Business

Kivu Money Services LLC is registered with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network as a Money Services Business, MSB Registration Number 31000336545886.

That registration carries obligations, and they are the reason for everything else on this page: an anti-money-laundering program, customer identification, sanctions compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting to regulatory authorities where the law requires it. Registration is a legal status, not an endorsement, and it does not constitute approval by FinCEN or any government agency.

2. Identity is verified before anyone sends

3. Transfers are screened

4. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest

The Privacy Policy is the governing document for what we collect, how long we keep it, and who we share it with.

5. Money in transit sits with regulated institutions

Kivu Money Services LLC is a financial technology company, not a bank. Payment collection, foreign exchange, and settlement are performed with licensed and regulated financial partners, and customer funds in transit are held with regulated financial institutions rather than with Kivu. In Rwanda, disbursement is performed through commercial banks and licensed mobile money operators regulated by the National Bank of Rwanda.

6. Every delivered transfer can be checked

Security is usually invisible, which makes it hard to trust. One part of ours is not. Every completed transfer carries a reference number and a QR code that anyone holding them can check at kivumoney.com/verify, with no login and no account, and the published record shows only the recipient's first name. A corridor you can inspect is harder to misrepresent than one you are asked to take on faith.

7. What we do not publish, and why

This page says what we do. It does not say how we do it.

We do not publish thresholds, screening mechanics, review triggers, model behavior, or the internal steps of a compliance decision. Those details are useful to almost no honest customer and useful to exactly the people a corridor needs protecting from. Publishing them would degrade the protection they describe. Regulators and our licensed partners see what they are entitled to see, under the arrangements that entitle them to it, and that is the correct audience for it.

If a specific security question affects you and is not answered here, write to info@kivumoney.com and we will answer what we responsibly can.

8. This is reviewed, not finished

Kivu's compliance and security program is reviewed on an ongoing basis, and is updated as our regulatory obligations, our partners, and the risks in this corridor change. Material changes to what this page states will be posted here with an updated date.
